Derek Hansen is pursuing a career in filmmaking with a focus on stories that connect with people and communicate clearly. His approach combines visual style, practical production discipline, and a collaborative mindset.
His portfolio spans creative narrative pieces, educational media, and team-based productions. Derek is especially interested in roles where storytelling supports real-world outcomes, from branded content to educational experiences and documentary-style work.
Sports Broadcasting
Derek spent two and a half years in sports broadcasting, starting as a camera operator and building hands-on experience across live production roles. Over time, he moved into directing, learning how to coordinate camera coverage, pace a live show, and make fast production decisions under real broadcast pressure.
Esports Broadcasting
After moving from traditional sports into esports, Derek applied that live-production foundation to help build a collegiate esports broadcasting production. He was first hired as a play-by-play shoutcaster, then expanded into directing, broadcast engineering, and broadcast lead coordinating.
